Who is Ian K. Scharine
and why is he running?
As a 27-year resident of Salt Lake City, I am familiar
with the Wasatch Front, it’s residents and their changing needs. I grew up
living near Liberty Park and attended Hawthorne Elementary, Clayton Junior
High, Highland High (freshman year at South High-go Cubbies!)) and the
University of Utah respectively. I am an avid sports fan, as well as I enjoy
the benefits of the beautiful outdoors that surround the city and are
available throughout the state of Utah. A friend who recognized my political
awareness and enthusiasm to discuss current issues, both national and local,
persuaded me into running for office. I firmly believe that voting is both
an American responsibility and privilege. Not enough citizens realize this
and exercise this very important right. In the very least as a candidate, I
would like to encourage people to vote, particularly those who aren’t
registered. One vote can make a difference, especially at a state or local
level where the representatives elected affect us most.
